A Quantitative Analysis of Integrated Emergency Posts

چکیده

As a solution to overcrowding, emergency departments (ED) in the Netherlands start collaborate with general practitioner cooperatives (GPC) so-called integrated posts (IEP) make sure that self-referring patients receive right treatment by care provider. The underlying assumption is this collaboration will increase effectiveness of and efficiency. This chapter describes two case studies: for one study IEP has already been opened upon research, whereas other decision open an was not made yet. Furthermore, studies differ several ED GPC characteristics, like percentage patients. For both studies, we compare situation before integration, non-integrated post (NIP), IEP. analysis done using discrete-event simulation model, which set up generic way enable analysing different NIPs IEPs without drastically changing model. We illustrate latter studies. furthermore show integration considering capacitive or organizational changes might lead length stay (LOS) at as well ED. However, when capacities responsibilities are changed accordingly, introduction positive impact towards leads less overcrowding These results led also second study.
